Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie says he has been impressed with the performance of the newly invited players into the team ahead of the international friendly against Canada.

Ghana will be facing the Canadians in a warm up match in Washington on Tuesday in preparation of its 2018 World Cup qualifier next month.

The Black Stars was however hit in the lead up to the friendly with Canada with many pullouts of some of its key players due to injury and problems associated with the acquisition of visas.

As a result Avram Grant was forced to hand debut call ups to four players; Gideon Baah, Phil Ofosu Ayeh, Lloyd Sam and Kwadwo Poku.

The four debutants seem to have integrated well into the team to catch the eye of the Black Stars’ management committee chief who is confident they will do well in the absence of the regular players.

“Even though we are missing some of our key players due to injuries and visa issues, I can confirm that the debutants or the new call ups have also fit in perfectly and are responding very well to training,” George Afriyie said.

“I have always believed that Ghana, we are blessed with talents. From what they’ve been able to exhibit for these past days is a true manifestation that yes, when you opportunities to any Ghanaian, he will definitely excel.”
