Black Stars players in action for European clubs cautious over injuries ahead of World Cup qualifiers
Andre Ayew is set to be in action for Swansea on Saturday

Black Stars players go into action for their Europeans clubs this weekend, cautious not to get injured to ensure their fitness for next week's 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Comoros.

Most of the 23 players called up by coach Avram Grant for the matches in Moroni and Kumasi will be in action for their clubs this weekend before flying to Accra for training with the Black Stars.

Germany-based defender Phil Ofosu-Ayeh will be in action for Eintracht Braunschweig when they host 1860 Munich on Sunday while Swiss-based striker Ebenezer Assifuah is expected to be in action for Sion in their match against Luzern on the same day.

The two players will have the opportunity to make their first competitive appearance for the Black Stars in the match against Comoros and they will be keen to avoid injuries.

All the Ghanaian players in the English Premier League will play on Saturday but for Jordan Ayew whose Aston Villa take on Manchester City on Sunday.

His elder brother Andre's Swansea City will take on Norwich, Baba Rahman's Chelsea travel to Stoke City while Jeff Schlupp's Leicester City are at home to Watford.

Goalkeeper Razak Brimah is expected to be in action for Cordoba in the journey to Albacete in the Spanish second tier on Sunday while the two USA-based players in the squad David Accam and Harrison Afful are expected home early for the Black Stars camp.

Others like Captain Asamoah Gyan, and home-based trio of Fatau Dauda, Richard Ofori and Samuel Tetteh are already in the country therefore the possibility for injury is minimal.

Some players also avoided injuries as Jonathan Mensah played the entire duration of the game for Evian in France as they won 4-0 over Valenciennes while Mubarak Wakaso was not in the Las Palmas team in their win over Sociecdad on Friday night.

Eintracht Braunschweig right-back, Ofosu-Ayeh, 24, appears to have earned his call-up on the back of his debut appearance for the Stars against Canada, as well as his performances for his club side in their quest for Bundesliga promotion.

WAFA's Tetteh, 19, is also rewarded for starring with the Black Satellites last June at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. He was also a part of the home-based Black Stars team that failed to qualify for the 2016 CHAN after losing to Cote d'Ivoire.

Former Liberty Professionals attacker, Assifuah, is also rewarded for his consistency with FC Sion in the Swiss Super League where he has featured in all 14 of his club's games. He also scored a memorable goal at Anfield last month when Sion held Liverpool to a 1-1 draw.

Avram Grant recalled his skipper Asamoah Gyan and vice skipper Andre Ayew who missed last month's friendly against Canada through injury.
