Black Stars players rally support for Stephen Appiah ahead of his testimonial match

Players of the Black Stars have rallied support for the Stephen Appiah “Testimonial Match” at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, June 27.

The players were of the view that, Stephen Appiah has contributed his due to the development of Black Stars and football as a whole.

Christian Atsu, in an interview, said that though he did not play with Appiah in the national team, he has been a distant admirer of the former Black Stars’ captain.

“We are aware of his leadership qualities and how he led the Black Stars to achieve a lot of successes.
“I think he deserve everything that will be done on the day to honour him. We will do our best to honour him come June 27.” Atsu stated.

According to Atsu, Appiah has always been an inspirer to the young players adding that he was always ready to guide young players in their respective careers.
On his part, defender John Boye said in an interview that, he was aware of the event and had been looking forward to participate.

“It will be an honour for me to participate in a game that is aimed at honouring the former captain of the Black Stars.

“He was a great personality both on field and off the pitch. You can always count him for wise counsel.
“He has been there for us and it’s time we also honour him this time around with this important match.”

David Accam, called on Ghanaians to fill the stands on June 27 to honour the former captain.

According to Accam, he has seen and heard so much about the former captain and believes he deserves every honour due him.

The Testimonial Match will see Stephen Appiah XI;

Emmanuel Adebayor, Yaya Toure, Kolo Toure, Samuel Eto’Ó Fills, Pavel Nedved, Alexandro Del Piero, Nigel Dejong, Didier Drogba, Roberto Baggio and other international stars taking on the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.
