The technical director of the Ghana Football Association Oti Akenten has called on the technical handlers of the Black Stars to activate their criteria of selecting players into the team insisting that they should only invite players who are regular for their clubs.

According to Oti Akenten, most of the Black Stars players embark of transfers without considering the repercussions on their national team career.

He therefore insists that if the technical handlers of the team will make it a point to invite only regular players for the national team, it will compel the players to think about their chances for the national team when embarking on any transfer.

In an exclusive interview with GHANAsoccernet.com, Coach Oti Akenten said "The coach must respect their own criteria. I think they said a player will be called when he is playing regularly for his team? Then they must be serious with it."

"I think the coach and his technical staff should take a second look at that and reactivate it. If they do that it will guide the players in their transfers."

"If a player knows he will move to a certain club and will not be regular and that can make him lose his position at the Black Stars, he will think again. They will not only move for the money. They will move for the playing time. That is making the players go anywhere," he added.

He was making the comment with reference to Baba Rahman and Christian Atsu who are integral members of the Black Stars but have been relegated to the bench since  Chelsea and Bournemouth respectively.
