Black Stars conclude training sessions ahead of Sudan clash on Saturday

The Black Stars completed their final training session ahead of the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on Saturday evening.

The Ghana team trained intensively for almost an hour-and-half before an impressive crowd at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

All 23-players took part in the session including captain Asamoah Gyan.

The leading striker pulled out of a trial game against second tier Deportivo on Thursday after complaining of pains in his thigh.

A scan on Friday however revealed the Al Ain star’s feared injury was not severe and has thus been cleared to feature against Sudan on Sunday.

Ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah alongside former internationals; Osei Kofi, Willie Klutse, Sammy Kuffour, CK Akunnor, Mohammed Gargo, Baffour Gyan and Thomas Duah also observed the evening’s training.

They later had the opportunity to interact and inspire the players after the session with Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah also gingering the boys ahead of the crucial game on Sunday.

Ghana needs to beat Sudan to remain in close contention for the sole progressive ticket in Group D.

The Black Stars currently trail leaders Zambia by three points and must pick up wins in the four remaining games to keep the dream of a third successive World Cup qualification alive.

  4. john says:

Zambia is a modern giant of african football and will beat lesotho home and away. Before afcon 2012 Zambia was the greatest african team to not lift the afcon. They did it. This time Zambia is the greatest african team that has not been to the world cup. Zambia will correct this they are going to Brazil. Ghana is not going anywhere. We have players like Rainford Kalaba and Fwayo Tembo who are some of the most intelligent attacking midfielders on the continent. In defence we have a man mountain In Sunzu. Some pundits believe Sunzu is the best defender in africa and will soon seal a move to the English Premiership with sunderland. The truth is Lesotho is not our class.

  5. Robandy says:

Hold your breadth, and don’t let your tongue stuck out. We all know Zambia happen to be the African Champions before the Afcon 2013,but there is a new king now so there is notthing to talk about. Let the pitch do the talking and stop the assurance that you will definately beat Lesotho. Bare in mind that tommorrow will finally come and at that instant the pitch will do the talking. Just remember that no one can foretell the future, and you’ve done the modest thing by chosing faith. Faith is substance of things hope for,yet to be seen. That means, you are anticipating for a better tommorrow and let’s pray it is so.

    @ john u r a foooooool.

  7. Zambia soccerman says:

Zambia wins tomorrow by 3-0 . Ghana will lose. Ghana 1 Sudan 2. Now go ahead and insult me, thats what you do best. Reality kicks tomorrow.

  8. Zambia soccerman says:

and then on Monday Kwesi Appiah is fired. Then Ghanaboi will tell you i said so.

  10. Blakroze GH says:

    Hehehehehe….I especially like that side ” you’ve
done the modest thing by chosing
faith. Faith is substance of things
hope for,yet to be seen. That
    means,you are anticipating for a
better tommorrow….” Damn u couldn’t say it better, anyway he’s right though about one thing sunzu can be a handful to our attackers but for fwayo, I reserve my comments till I see what substance he’s made of tomorrow…

  11. john says:

Blakroze GH Fwayo is making a return to the Zambian set up after a 2 year absence. He is a very intelligent player who had problems at his former club Basel. However, as things stand fwayo is regarded as one of the best midfielders in Romania’s Liga 1 and his current could see him seal a big money move in august. Ghana will not qualify Zambia will amass 9 points and the final game will be a mere formality.

  12. john says:

Robandy the next afcon is supposed to be in 2014 it was very unfair to strip Zambia of the opportunity of going to the confederatons cup. Further it was also unfair to ask a nation to defend a trophy only 11 months after winning. Zambia is the true african champion and Nigeria just benefited from tired Ivory coast and Zambian teams. Nigeria are flukes and were exposed by Kenya.

  13. lemosi says:

the final game is definately going to be the decider.
zambia will win as well as ghana…..
lets see how zambia performs against sudan in a returen match whiles ghana dismantles lesotho again….that can also be a key factor…you got the 3 p against sudan but you’ve not beaten them lets see.ghana and zambia are not the only teams to cause a harvog, the others are also capable of……
good luck to all teams today.

  14. malinka says:

be just and say the truth zambia performed very badly… this afcon..
    qualify before u start bluffing..
i think ghana will win all their next 4 mathches,
zambia too will win the next 3 but will loose against ghana….
ghana doesnt loose at home no matter what…
