Black Stars conclude training sessions ahead of Sudan clash on Saturday

The Black Stars completed their final training session ahead of the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Sudan on Saturday evening.

The Ghana team trained intensively for almost an hour-and-half before an impressive crowd at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

All 23-players took part in the session including captain Asamoah Gyan.

The leading striker pulled out of a trial game against second tier Deportivo on Thursday after complaining of pains in his thigh.

A scan on Friday however revealed the Al Ain star’s feared injury was not severe and has thus been cleared to feature against Sudan on Sunday.

Ex Ghana captain Stephen Appiah alongside former internationals; Osei Kofi, Willie Klutse, Sammy Kuffour, CK Akunnor, Mohammed Gargo, Baffour Gyan and Thomas Duah also observed the evening’s training.

They later had the opportunity to interact and inspire the players after the session with Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah also gingering the boys ahead of the crucial game on Sunday.

Ghana needs to beat Sudan to remain in close contention for the sole progressive ticket in Group D.

The Black Stars currently trail leaders Zambia by three points and must pick up wins in the four remaining games to keep the dream of a third successive World Cup qualification alive.
