Ghana striker Abdul Majeed Waris is pleased with Valenciennes' winning mentality after inspiring them to a 2-1 triumph over Stade Rennes in the French Ligue 1 on Saturday.

The 22-year-old turned the architect in the 54th minute as he set up Mathieu Dossevi to cancel out Ola Toivonen's 48th minute opener for Rennes before scoring his 5th goal in 9 games, converting expertly from the spot.

"It was good to record another win because that is most important as we have to fight relegation. We played well and kept our focus in the game," he told

Waris joined Valenciennes from Russian side Spartak Moscow and has played an influential role in their fight to beat the drop.

That boy has got the killer instinct.he is a typical 18 yard box striker who doesnt hesitate to strike from all angles. If the blackstars players know how to set him the ball perfectly he will score alot of goals.

@ Keith, true bro! He's a cold-blooded sniper.....AA has to orchestrate a roster, which waris can start all the games.

HIS PENALTY KICK WAS VERY POOR This chap should stop chasing to play every penalty won by his club if this is the way he'll be shooting. This penalty he played was a very poor one indeed. He should thank his stars that the keeper punched the ball weakly and straight back to him "Waris". He'd ave disappointed the entire fans rooting for him.
