Black Stars striker Waris explains Spartak Moscow choice

Striker Abdul Majeed Waris says he chose to join Spartak Moscow due to 'their great prospects.'

The Ghana international joined the Russian giants on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old signed for the club after accepting personal terms and passing a medical on Saturday.

He joins from BK Hacken where he emerged the top goal scorer in the just ended Swedish league with 23 goals in 29 games.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate is now looking to make a career step up at Spartak haven been thrilled with their style of play in this season's UEFA Champions League.

"Spartak are a great club with big prospects," he told his new side's official website.

"The team caught my interest after I watched the game against Celtic.

"I liked the team, it seemed that I can develop and express myself here."

Waris however has to wait until January to make his competitive debut for his new club.

He has already won four caps with the Ghana national team and is likely to get another international game under his belt in Tuesday's friendly match against Cape Verde.

Waris is however still in search of his first international goal for the Black Stars.
