Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie says the team will be modest in its celebration following their comprehensive 2015 AFCON semi final win over Equatorial Guinea.

Ghana stunned the hosts with a 3-0 mauling before their home fans on Thursday night in Malabo to set up a tantalizing final against Cote d’Ivoire.

The Black Stars saw out the spirited Equato-Guineans having had to deal with sporadic crowd violence from the home fans throughout the game.

Avram Grant’s team have overly impressed having come into the tournament with lowered expectations.

Their opening group defeat to Senegal even enhanced the pessimism against the side.

Ghana have since recovered well and have grown in confidence to secure an unexpected final berth.

The unexpected achievement has sent many back home into wild jubilation ahead of Sunday’s final against Ivory Coast in Bata.

But George Afriyie says the team will not be overly carried away by the feat chalked ahead of their crunch final against their West African neighbours.

“I will want to be more happy on Sunday,” the Black Stars management committee head told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“For now, yes, I am relieved, I am a happy man – at least for now we have managed to get over the fifth match phobia.

“We will be modest in our celebration and I believe that the good Lord that has brought us this far, will see us through.”
