Teenager Richmond Boakye-Yiadom's scoring form for Ghana's Under-20 team last week earned him a place in the Genoa set-up which lost 0-1 to Inter Milan in the Serie A on Friday night.

The 17-year-old forward came on for Marco Rossi in the 78th minute as a winger and nearly grabbed the equalizer in the dying seconds.

But his rasping shot from a tight angle missed the goal narrowly much to the relief of substitute Inter goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi.

Friday's cameo role marked his fourth Serie A appearance since scoring on his debut last term against Livorno in a one-all draw.

"I think I played well but I can't say for a fact that I'm in the first team. I didn't expect to play against Inter but my coach (Gian Piero Gasperini) knows what is right and he takes the decision," Boakye-Yiadom told Ghanasoccernet.com

"I still have a lot to learn to get to the top and if I don't get a first team chance, I will still push for a place by scoring goals in the primavera (youth team)."

Boakye-Yiadom scored a brace last Saturday for the Ghana Under-20 team in their 4-1 win over Benin in the 2011 African Youth Championship final qualifier.

Inter's goal came from compatriot Sulley Muntari after Genoa keeper Eduardo failed to deal with a speculative shot in first half stoppage time.
