Jerome Boateng’s season appears to be over for Bayern Munich after he suffered a thigh injury against Real Madrid on Wednesday which will rule him out for up to six weeks.
The German international is now in a race against time to be fit for the World Cup, which is now less than 50 days away.
Boateng has played less minutes than his centre-back partners Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle this season, but has remained key to everything good for the Bundesliga champions.
The 29-year-old posted this message on his Instagram page: "Life is full of setbacks. Live, feel, love, laugh, cry, play, win, lose, stumble, fall, but keep rising. Now it's time to fight to be in Russia. I will give everything for that. For the remaining games this season, I'll support my team as best I can. Thanks for the many well wishes!"
