Boateng injury boost for Ghana

Ghana midfield hopeful Kevin-Prince Boateng returned action on Sunday after recovering from injury, boosting his hopes of making the Black Stars squad for the World Cup in South Africa in June.

His excellent performance during the English FA Cup semi final game will delight coach Milovan Rajevac who is keen for the enforcer to complete his nationality switch to play for the West Africans.

The Ex-Germany U21 star made his long awaited return from injury for Portsmouth on Sunday as he waits for news on his Ghana future.

The midfielder has been out for a greater part of the year after tearing his ankle ligament.

But he played his first game for the on Sunday and scored as Pompey beat Tottenham 2-0 to reach the FA Cup final at Wembley.

The player was one of Portsmouth's best players before the injury knocked him out.

He will now be hoping to stay fit in time for the World Cup after committing his international future to the Black Stars.

His transition from ex-Germany youth international to a Ghana international has taken unusually long.

But the Ghana FA are still hopeful it will be done in time before Rajevac names his final squad for the tournament in June.
