Boateng, Sarpei still doubtful for Uruguay World Cup clash

Ghana first team players Kevin Prince Boateng and Hans Sarpei are still doubtful for Friday’s World Cup quarter final game against Uruguay.

The two players suffered injuries during Saturday's 2-1 win over the United States but it was thought they would recover for Tuesday's training session.

But the duo watched from the sidelines on Tuesday night as coach Milovan Rajevac took his squad through another lengthy training session in preparation for the match at Soccer City in Johannesburg.

Boateng, who scored the opening goal in last Saturday's second round win over the United States, picked up a hamstring strain in the match at Rustenburg.

He is having extensive medical treatment in an attempt to be ready for Ghana's bid to become the first African side to reach the World Cup semi-finals.

Sarpei is battling a calf injury that officials said made him a serious doubt.

"It doesn't look good for him on Friday," Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said at training.

The presence of the two players on the pitch will be a major boost as they seek to be the first African country to qualify for the semi finals of the World Cup.
