Borussia Dortmund looking to 'play good football' vs. RB Leipzig - Bosz

Published on: 13 October 2017

Borussia Dortmund have made an impressive start to the Bundesliga season.

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund are aiming to entertain RB Leipzig when they meet on Saturday, according to head coach Peter Bosz.

Dortmund are the only undefeated side in the upper two tiers of German football this season and have gained 19 points from their first seven Bundesliga matches.

BVB have also not lost a league match at the Westfalenstadion since a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in April 2015 -- a run of 41 games -- and will look to continue that record when they host last season's Bundesliga runners-up Leipzig in what could be their first real test of the domestic season.

"I really like to watch RB Leipzig play," Bosz told his prematch news conference. "They've got good players, they like to attack, they apply a lot of pressure. But we've also got good players, and it's important we have the better team tomorrow.

"We want to get the game in our hands as soon as possible. We want to attack, score goals, and play good football for our fans."

Dortmund will be without four of their five full-backs against fourth-placed Leipzig, with Erik Durm, Raphael Guerreiro, Marcel Schmelzer and Lukasz Piszczek all sidelined with injuries.

Bosz said it is possible that his side may change to a three-man defence as a result.

"There are not many left who can play in that position. But we will manage it," Bosz said.

Up front Dortmund have no injury concerns, but only welcomed back United States international Christian Pulisic and Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on Thursday after the duo both failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia with their respective countries.

"It's always difficult for the players when they have not qualified," Bosz said.

Bosz said that Aubameyang was disappointed when returning to Dortmund and that he "could imagine that's also the case with Pulisic."

He added: "That's one side. The other side is that you always have to keep going."

Meanwhile, Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Timo Werner will be part of his matchday squad on Saturday.

The attacker resumed training this week after a neck problem had ruled him out since last month's Champions League defeat at Besiktas.

There had been suggestions in the media that Werner could miss out on the trip to the Westfalenstadion, but Hasenhuttl said: "Timo Werner will be in the squad against Borussia Dortmund."

When asked about Dortmund's run of 41 consecutive home games without a defeat, Hasenhuttl said that his side face a "juicy challenge."

Elsewhere, a row between Dortmund police and BVB supporters planning a march to the Westfalenstadion as part of a protest against Leipzig, who are funded by soft drink manufacturer Red Bull, has caused some disturbances in the build-up to the match.

Police had urged the BVB fan group to register the rally, but the supporters failed to oblige to the request and, according to local paper Ruhr Nachrichten, police have now opened an investigation.
