AFC Bournemouth loan signing Christian Atsu hopes he can win the club some new supporters in Ghana and across Africa.

Ghana international Atsu, 23, joined the Premier League new boys on a season-long loan from Chelsea having spent last season with Everton.

The winger made just 13 appearances for Everton and is determined to have more of an impact this term.

"I think a lot of people in Ghana will be supporting Bournemouth this season," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"A lot of people back home weren't happy for my season last year, but the past is in the past and what I have now is more important."

Atsu has yet to play for parent club Chelsea, who he joined for a reported £3.5m from Porto in 2013.

"For now, I can't say anything about Chelsea," he added.

"I'm concentrating on Bournemouth and I can't wait for the season to start.

"I'm working hard and focusing on scoring my first ever Premier League goal."
