The new director of football at Norwegian club Brann says his first task is to hand a new contract to defender Yaw Ihle Amankwah.

The 21-year-old central defender has been impressive since returning to the club after a loan stint with Alta.

Steinar Nilsen was appointed as the general manager of the club on Monday and has hit the ground running with the promise of talks with the youngster as his first move.

"There will be no revolution, and I have no freedom as to sign any player I want if the we need him and have the money," Nilsen said.

"But yes, we want Yaw to stay longer with the club and we will sit down with him first."

Amankwah is of Ghanaian descent, but was born in Bergen.

He was bought from Fana IL in the summer of 2007, he spent the rest of the 2007 season at Fana, on loan.
