Ghana and Swansea City superstar Andre Ayew has been crowned the English Premier League's Player of the Month for August after making a big impact in his first month in the world's most popular league, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively confirm.

The 25-year-old scooped the coveted award after beating five competitors who were shortlisted following his explosive start to the English Premier League.

Ayew beat competition from team-mate Bafetimbi Gomis, Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez, Manchester City duo of David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov as well as Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.

The Ghana star has been hugely instrumental for Swansea who have also started really well and lie fourth after taking eight points from their opening four matches.

Ayew, who signed from Marseille on a free transfer over the summer, has been a key figure in Swansea's explosive star, scoring three goals so far, including the equaliser in a 2-1 victory over Manchester United.

The former Marseille star scored on his competitive debut against title-holders Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge and inspired the Swans to a 2-2 draw.

His impressive showings include a string of fabulous headers against Newcastle United and Manchester United.

He and Gomis have provided all of Swansea's seven league goals so far.

Andre arrived in the English top-flight as free agent after leaving French giants Olympique Marseille and has made a big impact at the club firing the Welsh side to fourth berth on the Premier League session before the international break.

He is also in the running to win the Swansea City Player of the Month of August award and is facing stiff competition from Ecuador international Jefferson Montero and Bafetimbi Gomis.
