Ghana winger Christian Atsu has been snapped up by newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth on loan from Chelsea subject to approval from the Premier League.

The player will be going out on his third loan spell since joining the Blues in 2013.

He has been to Vitesse and Everton to gain some experience and Bournemouth will be latest learning ground.

AFC Bournemouth confirmed the deal on Friday and coach of the club Eddie Howe is excited at the club’s latest acquisition.

“I think he is a player, although he is a younger player, he is a player with outstanding experience when you look at his career he has had,” he told club’s website minutes after the deal was announced

“He has had a lot thrown at him – Porto, Vitesse, Chelsea, on the international stage – and he’s done very well on the international stage as well.

“We are loaning a player of huge potential, again we had to fight off several other Premier League clubs to get him, so we are very, very pleased.

“I think he will bring pace and ability to beat a man one-v-one which is very important in the Premier League, so for all those reasons I think he is a great signing for us.”

According to the terms of the deal, Atsu will not be eligible to play against Chelsea when the two teams meet either at Goldsands Stadium or Stamford Bridge.
