Brazil recall in-form Ronaldinho for Ghana friendly

Two-time world player of the year Ronaldinho is back in the Brazil squad for the first time since November 2010 to face Ghana in next month's international friendly.

Coach Mano Menezes called all his best players including Alexandre Pato and Robinho for the game on 5 September.

Barceolna duo of Daniel Alves and Adriano will also play in the game to be hosted in London at the Craven Cottage.

But Ronaldinho’s inclusion in the squad remains the biggest shock as he returns after a one-year absence.

The 31-year-old, who now plays for Flamengo in the Brazilian top-flight, last played for the South American giants in November 2010.

But after the country bombed out of the Copa America at the quarter-final stage and a 2-0 loss to Germany in a friendly, the coach insists the silky player deserves another chance.

"Ronaldinho is a world champion with the Brazil team and after his return to the country he has readjusted and he is playing very well," said Menezes, of a player who has scored five goals in his last 12 league outings.

Ronaldinho has enjoyed a recent purple patch with Flamengo in the Brazilian top flight and scored a memorable hat-trick for the side in a 5-4 win over league rivals Santos last month.

Other notable inclusions in the 24-man group were Real Madrid left-back Marcelo, Cruzeiro goalkeeper Fabio, Porto forward Hulk and Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.

There was no place for Chelsea midfielder Ramires, but there was room for Santos' versatile Brazil Under-20 international Danilo.
