Derek Boateng's move to Fulham collapses

Posted On Friday, 31st August 2012

Derek Boateng is set to join Fulham

Derek Boateng’s proposed move to English side Fulham has collapsed, GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal.

The 29-year-old was expected to undergo a medical at the London club on Friday but complications on the final day have stalled the move.

The Dnipro enforcer was hoping to tie a permanent deal with the Cottagers after he expressed his desire to quit the Ukrainian outfit after suffering massive racial abuse last season.

But the deal has fallen through, meaning he will return to Dnipro to see out the remaining one-year left on his contract.

He tweeked: “Have problems with move to @ FulhamFC. Deal in doubt now.”

It will be a devastating blow for the Dnipro player and his fans who have been desirous of seeing him play in the top flight of English football.

It will be recalled that Fulham saw their bid for the Ghanaian international knocked down by the Ukrainian outfit two weeks.

The Cottagers had already filed a work application for the Ghanaian but contractual disagreement  has reportedly collapsed the move.

Boateng has been unsettled since he joined Dnipro last season and has been angling for a move.

Fulham could also sign him during the January transfer window.
