German top-flight side Schalke have captured the hugely talented Ghanaian striker Bernard Tekpetey from the West African country's leagues, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old, who made waves in the second tier of Ghana's football leagues with his excellent scoring ability, sealed the deal with the Bundesliga side on Monday on the transfer deadline.

The strong attacker signed a three-year deal from Ghanaian side Unistar Soccer Academy to complete the dream move.

Tekpetey was signed after spending three weeks on trials with the Bundesliga where he convinced the coaches of his abilities which resulted in the decision to hand him a permanent deal.

The striker is expected to be a key part of Ghana's U20 squad for this year.

He will play in the second side of Schalke before he is considered for their senior side in Bundesliga matches.

Gerald Asamoah will serve as the mentor of the striker from his home country.
