EXCLUSIVE: Ghana defender Baba Rahman passes Chelsea medical in Paris, awaits visa to London
Baba Rahman has successfully passed his medical in Paris

Chelsea-bound Ghana defender Baba Abdul-Rahman has passed a medical in Paris on Friday morning ahead of his imminent move to Stamford Bridge, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 21-year-old move to Chelsea now looks imminent as the medical was completed in Paris and the player is expected to sign a contract within the coming hours.

The right-back is expected to sign a five-year contract with Chelsea within the coming hours.

Baba departed from Germany on Thursday afternoon to have his medical examination in Paris, which he passed on Friday, Ghana's leading football news outfit can reveal.

The Ghanaian defender could return returned to Germany right after where he awaits on his visa and work permit’s arrival before travelling to London.

Baba couldn’t undergo a medical in London as he’s a non-EU player and needed a visa to travel to the UK and the delays in acquiring the visa to enable him travel to London forced him to travel to Paris for the medical.

Baba Rahman's medical paves the way for him to completing the £17.7m transfer from Augsburg.

GHANAsoccernet.com revealed in June that the 21-year-old had been lined up as a replacement for Filipe Luis, who returned to Atletico Madrid.

A series of add-ons could eventually take the value of the deal above £20m and the Ghana international will sign a five-year deal worth £76,000-a-week.

The Ghana international is Jose Mourinho's first-choice target to replace Filipe Luis, who was sold back to Atletico Madrid last month after failing to impress at Stamford Bridge last season.

Rahman has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea but the two clubs struggled to agree a fee.

The Blues were only prepared to pay up to £14m, despite the German club demanding in excess of £20m.

But Chelsea refused to be held to ransom over the 21-year-old and now a compromise has been reached.

Rahman played in Augsburg's 3-1 victory over Elversburg in the German Cup on Friday night but that is expected to be his last appearance for them.

He will provide competition for first choice Cesar Azpilicueta and will be given the chance to impress.
