Ghana international defender Edwin Gyimah has joined Swedish giants Helsingborg after excelling on a trial, Ghana's leading football news outfit Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 26-year-old sealed the permanent deal on Monday afternoon with the second tier side.

He signed a two-year contract after excelling on trial with the club following just seven days of training and playing in a friendly.

Gyimah moves on a free transfer from South African side Orlando Pirates with the mission of helping the giants to return to top-flight after being relegated last term.

"Edwin is a top player. He is overqualified for the league but he shall serve them on a short term and then move on to a bigger platform," said Ryan Harrslief of Spain-based Bigtime Sport, the agency that referred the Ghana defender.

"The senior international looks to help the club gain promotion this season back to the Allsvenskan."

Gyimah parted ways with Pirates last month after submitting a written request asking the club to release him from his contract.
