The Ghana Football Association have been given a massive leeway to start the Ghana Premier League after an Accra High court threw out Accra Great Olympics’ application for an interlocutory injunction on the league and congress.
The start of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League was thrown into massive uncertainty after Great Olympics slapped a court injunction on the launch of the league and the annual GFA Congress which was supposed to take place a fortnight ago.
The case was adjourned to the 21st of February for hearing and news trickling in from court is that the court has dismissed the application for the interlocutory injunction by Olympics.
The aggrieved Ghana Premier League club slapped an injunction on the commencement of the league following the delay of the Appeals Committee of the FA to give a ruling of a protest lodged against Elmina Sharks and Bechem United.
The Ghana FA after receiving the injunction which necessitated the postponement of their 2018 Congress as well as the commencement of the league will met The Wonder Club in court.
Olympics finished 15th last season on a 16-club log, with 36 points, four points below safety but a ruling in their favour will save them from the drop.
The decision of the court means that the GFA can go ahead with their congress, launch of the league and subsequently fix a start date for the Ghana Premier League.
