Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan has signed a new contract extension at Al Ain in a deal which will keep him at the UAE club until 2018 and to diffuse any thoughts of his return to Europe.

The Black Stars captain was presented to the media shortly after signing the new deal in Dubai.

Gyan had only returned for pre-season training on Monday having been granted an extended leave in his native country after playing for the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 28-year-old signed for the Dubai-based club on an initial loan deal from English Premier League club, Sunderland in 2011.

He however reached a deal with the club and the Black Cats make his initial loan move permanent and signed a four-year contract in the summer of 2012.

Gyan has been sensational for the Boss since his arrival - powering the side to back-to-back league titles with his aplenty goals.

The club's board have now moved quickly to secure the future of their lethal striker by extending his deal to two more years upon hints of interest from clubs in Europe where many believe the former Udinese man belongs.

Gyan in his response, told his official website; asamoahgyan3.com moments after signing the deal that: “I am very happy to extend my contract here until 2018 and I thank the club’s board, management and all the fans for their support.

“I have been happy here since I arrived in 2011 and I hope to help the side to keep winning.”

Gyan has scored over a 100 goals for Al Ain and is currently the leading scorer in the Asian Champions League with 10 goals.

He is expected to play his first game for his club on his return from holidays on Friday when Al Ain face Al Nasrr in the club's annual International friendly tournament.
