Breaking News: Gyan named in strong Ghana starting-line-up to face USA in friendly - Akaminko, Sumaila start
Ghana will play the USA in a friendly on Saturday

Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has been named in a strong Black Stars starting line-up to face USA in an international friendly in Connecticut on Saturday as five new players will also start.

Gyan, who was benched in Wednesday's clash with Mexico in Houston, is among the five changes made by coach Kwesi Appiah for the grudge match.

MLS hotshot David Accam gets a place in the starting line up along with Rashid Sumaila and Jerry Akaminko who will shore up the defence while Mohammed Abu also gets the chance.

Appiah rested Gyan for the 1-0 defeat against Mexico but has come with all guns blazing against the American side that defeated the Black Stars at the 2014 World Cup.

Accam gets the opportunity to play from the left side of midfield where Thomas Agyempong excelled in the game against Mexico.

Akaminko profits from the absence of Jonathan Mensah to partner John Boye.

His fortune is similar to that of Rashid Sumaila who replaces Harrison Afful at right-back.

Abu will partner Ebenezer Ofori at the heart of midfield with Frank Acheampong deployed at his unfavourable position of right wing. He is likely to be switching positions with Accam who operates effectively at right wing.

Gyan will spearhead the attack where he will partner young but dangerous striker Raphael Dwamena.

Richard Ofori will stay in the posts for the Black Stars as they seek to defeat the Americans in their own backyard to deepen the rivalry.

Ghana starting line-up: Ofori, Sumaila, Lumor, Akaminko, Boye, Abu, Acheampong, E, Ofori, Gyan, Dwamena, Accam
