Breaking News: Hearts of Oak sign South African defender Mason Shaun October
Mason October has joined Hearts of Oak from South African side Santos

Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak have signed former Santos left back Mason Shaun October on a three-year deal, GHANASoccernet.com can confirm.

October is a left-back and had his transfer facilitated by Ghana defender John Pantsil who played at Santos last season.

The 24-year-old becomes the first signing for the Phobians who have targeted to end their five-year trophy drought next season.

He told Soccer Laduman: “Everything is alright, I met the board members this week and discussed the contract and we came to an agreement. I signed a three-season long deal and they’re very welcoming.

“My contract was coming to an end at Santos and John Paintsil told me he can help me out, he phoned the club and organized for me. They were interested and keen.”

When asked about if he is up to the challenge despite the league being a physically demanding one, he said: “I’m happy, I’m not scared, not at all.”

Hearts of Oak will begin their pre-season training on 1 July after finishing third in the just ended Ghana Premier League.

The capital club have qualified to play in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.
