Adam Kwarasey returns to Ghana's starting line-up to face Turkey

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has been named in Ghana's starting line-up for the first time since January as he will be the shot-stopper for the Black Stars in their friendly against Turkey on Wednesday.

According to the Ghana FA report, the Norway-based goalkeeper will start ahead of regular Fatau Dauda and Razak Brimah in the match in Istanbul.

Also handed a rare start in the Ghana team is South Africa based defender Rashid Sumaila who will partner Jonathan Mensah at the heart of the defence.

Samuel Inkoom and Harrison Afful will play at the right and left side of the defence respectively while Rabiu Mohammed and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu will play in heart of the midfield.

Silky Solomon Asante and Christian Atsu will play at the right and left side of the midfield respectively while Mubarak Wakaso to play just behind striker Dominic Adiyiah.

Adiyiah will lead the attack for Ghana as captain Asamoah Gyan will start from the bench as promised by coach Kwesi Appiah.

Juventus Kwadwo Asamoah start from the bench at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium for the match which will kick off at 18:00GMT (9:00PM local time).

Kwarasey has not started for the Black Stars since losing his starting position to Dauda ahead of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

His top form in the Norwegian top-flight has led to him being considered once again as the coach weighs his options in the team.

Sumaila has rarely started for Ghana but he also gets the chance to impress as the Black Stars prepare with this match to face Zambia in September.

Ghana line up Adam Kwarasey, Samuel Inkoom, Harrison Afful, Jonathan Mensah, Rashid Sumaila, Rabiu Mohammed, Solomon Asante, Agyemang Badu, Dominic Adiyiah, Mubarak Wakaso, Christian Atsu.

What do you make of the Ghana starting line-up? Do you think it is good for Kwesi Appiah to give the chance to others who don't see much action for the Black Stars? Make your views known in the box below:

I think it makes sense for Adam Kwarasey to start in such matches. There are players who do better in matches not involving African teams. African soccer is different!! Fatau should be in post for African games whiles Adam is in post for non African matches. Just like Prince Boateng, he plays better against non African countries as against African countries. We all saw how bad Kwarasey fared in last years African cup of Nations but was excellent against Brazil. I don't think Fatau will have done better than Kwarasey in the match against Brazil.

I think the time is wrong. I have seen different times posted for this match. Anyway, I think this is basically Adiyah's last chance to prove he belongs. Wakasso as the second striker might be a critical breakthrough. Atsu needs to play well to solidify himself as the left wing. Solomon Asante also needs to really do well if he wants to be around. The right wing is up for grabs.

how many tyms will appiah give adiyah and inkoom the chance to prove themselves?players who don't regular playing time in their clubs are called to the national teams at the expense of better players like samuel afun and godfred saka....inkoom is a spectator in ukraine so on what merit did akwasi appiah used to call him to the national team? If this coach continues to call players to not base on merit to national team then am afraid to say Zambia will shock Ghana in kumasi.

i disagree with you. Fatau is a better choice whether the match is against an African or Non-Nfrican team. He is simply much more skilled and confident than Adam. however, i do agree with A.A for usimg Adam for this friendly because it will help him improve and gain some confidence at the post. Other than that, I believe Fatau should be our 1st choice goal keeper at the WC.

In my opinion, I know Adiyiah is playing regular football for His Club, Arsenal Kyiv. He played 27 out of 32 games in 2012/2013 season and netted 5 goals. Lets note that he is being used as a winger not a striker in his club. For Black stars he has played 18 matches and bagged in 4 goals. Two of which came from Ghana lesotho match when he started the match. And even the 18 he was in the starting line-up in less than 5 games he played for Black stars, coming in as a last minute substitute in most matches. I think Adiyiah is a good player and a brilliant striker after Asamoah Gyan. We have to pray for him, good fortune has not been on his side. There is more he can do for Ghana Black Stars. Lets support the lad.

i also believe otoo shd be given a chance to prove himself. adiyiah has bn given one too many chances, still no show. in fact, if we want to keep faith with some strikers to give them many playing opportunities currently, it shd be otoo and warris once he is fully fit.
