REVEALED: Lack of respect compelled Yaw Preko to resign as Hearts of Oak coach

Published on: 28 October 2016

Yaw Preko has resigned as Hearts of Oak coach citing personal reasons as the purpose for his resignation but GHANAsoccernet.com investigations have revealed the contrary.

The indignant coach tendered in his resignation letter on Friday afternoon around 13:00 GMT.

Confirming the news to GHANAsoccernet.com, Yaw Preko said he has tendered in his resignation letter based on personal reason.

"Yes it is true I have resigned but I did that for personal reason." Yaw Preko said.

Ghanasoccernet.com however understands that Yaw Preko has not been paid for over three months as well as being sidelined in the club's player recruitment.

A close source to the disgruntled coach disclosed that the Black Satellites assistant coach felt hugely disrespected by the management of the ailing Phobian side hence his decision to resign.

The source further disclosed that the club's management were signing players for the club for next season without the coach's knowledge and was asked to stay back when he questioned the mode of recruiting players for the club.

The lack of respect for Yaw Preko escalated when he was told he is only fit for the assistant coach role of the club and not the substantive coaching role by a board member.

One other reason was that the former Black Stars winger felt hugely slapped in the face when the club's junior team coach Sergio Traquil took him to the cleaners in public but was reprimanded by some of the board members of the club when he responded to Sergio in like manner.

Yaw Preko was the assistant to former Hearts Japanese trainer Kenichi Yatsuhashi who parted ways with the club at the end of the first round of the just-ended season.

He was again asked to assist Portuguese trainer Sergio Traquil who took over the club after Kenichi which he obliged.

With three matches to end the season, Yaw was handed the substantive coaching role to end the season as Sergio Traquil was sinking swiftly with the club.
