British High Commissioner to Ghana Jon Benjamin insists he played no part in Andre Ayew's move to his idol club West Ham United.

Ayew, 26, completed a club record transfer move to the Hammers on Monday.

The Ghana international kick-start his career at the club by holding his first training session on Tuesday.

It has been rumoured that the British diplomat, played a key role in securing the deal for the Black Stars versatile man due to his close relationship with the Ayew family.

But he has flatly denied the claims insisting he had no hands in the deal.

“Of course you saw me with them (Andre Ayew and Abedi Pele) because I know them but I play no part in any football deal,” he is quoted by the Daily Graphic

“But of course I had nothing to do with it,” he added.

Ayew spent just one season at Swansea following a move from Marseille.
