Buffon: Juventus have a great opportunity to kill Roma’s title hopes

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon believes the Bianconeri have a great opportunity to knock Roma out of the title race when they meet on Sunday evening.

Despite considering the Giallorossi to still be a threat for the title, the 37-year-old thinks that Inter are the Old Lady’s main rivals for the Scudetto.

“The loss against Sassuolo was the turning point, the dressing room responded to my outburst and the changes made by [Massimiliano] Allegri turned out to be decisive,” said Allegri to La Gazzetta dello Sport as he explained Juve’s 10-game winning streak.

“If we lost to Inter we could have slipped again but we didn’t and so we rose again.

“I think Inter are our main rivals but Napoli are also good enough to win the league.

“It will be important for us now to beat Roma and put a 10-point gap between us and them, they’re still a dangerous team so the further away they are from us, the better.”

The veteran was also asked about Juve’s chances in the Champions League where they will face Bayern Munich.

“We don’t have a great chance and it will take cynicism, aggression and great desire for us to defy the predictions,” added Buffon.
