Liberian side Barrack Young Controllers are blaming the centre referee Ouadragou Boukari for aiding their 2-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on Sunday in their CAF Champions League qualifier.
President of the club Prof Sekou Konneh believes the Burkinabe official handed his side a raw deal.
He is contesting Kotoko’s opener which was a 22nd minute penalty converted by Kwabena Adusei.
“The game was a very tight one, but officiating was terrible. The first penalty awarded to Kotoko wasn’t a penalty,†Konneh said.
“Because of this the referee failed to give the home side a clear penalty that came their way, after we had equalized.
“In fact the second penalty awarded was a clear one and Kotoko again had a third penalty but he failed to take a bold decision because the fake penalty he gave them was still haunting him.â€
Barrack Young Controllers will be counting on their away goal to see if they can eliminate the two-time African champions next Sunday in Monrovia for the return leg.
