Black Stars management committee chairman George Afriyie says there is no turning back for the team after the side's hard-fought 1-0 win over Rwanda in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier over the weekend.

Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso delivered the sucker punch with a brilliant free kick, eight minutes from time to hand the West African giants the vital win in Kigali.

And the team’s management committee chief George Afriyie expects the team to be spurred on by the victory at the Amahoro stadium.

"It is a very important victory and there is no turning back after this victory. Kigali is a very difficult grounds for many team and for the fact that Rwanda had been very strong at home for some years, it was always going to be a difficult game", he told GHANAsoccernet.com

"They won their first game against Mozambique away and were very optimistic of getting the victory against Ghana at home. So it is a great victory and we hope to continue from here.

"This victory will not only put us on top of the table but also send signals to our group opponents and put some fear in them. Mozambique is our next encounter and we hope to do same in Accra.”
