CAF set up fund to cater for needy ex footballers

CAF has approved a budget to set up a fund to cater for needy former footballers across the continent including Ghana.

The budget for the fund named after CAF President Issa Hayatou was approved at the CAF Executive Committee meeting of 21-22 September.

The fund will administered under a yet to be constituted management.

The formation of the fund was first approved at the last CAF General Assembly hosted in Marrakech, Morocco in March.

It will be used to cater for needy ex footballers in the form of primary health care, education support for their children and others.

This decision is in line with an idea being developed by the Ghana FA to set up a fund to cater for needy ex national footballers.
