CAF chief Kwesi Nyantakyi lauds Fox Sports for investing in WAFU

Kwesi Nyantakyi, First Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has commended Fox Sports for investing in West African Football.

The renowned American sports broadcasting company are the headline sponsors of the upcoming WAFU Cup of nations to be held in Ghana.

Speaking at the launch of the WAFU cup of nations, Mr. Nyantakyi praised Fox Sports for their efforts to revitalize the flagship tournament in the sub-region.

“The current leadership of WAFU Zones A and B have resolved to make the WAFU Cup of nations a permanent feature of the African football calendar," Nyantakyi said.

The return of the tournament has been made possible by the massive financial support by Fox international TV, the headline sponsor.

Mr Nyantakyi said the financial backing from Fox Sports would ensure the introduction of female and youth tournament whiles reviving the WAFU inter clubs competition.

“Part of the funds from Fox Sports would go into training or having seminars for administrators, referees, coaches and other personnel of the game.

“We commend their efforts in promoting and improving the game in West Africa. This would make as the top bearers of football in Africa”, said Nyantakyi.

The Fox Sports WAFU cup of Nations would commence on September 9, 2017 at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium in the Central Region of Ghana.
