Caf has confirmed AshantiGold's Confederation Cup tie against Sewe Sports will go on as planned despite the political tension in Ivory Coast.

Clashes in the commercial capital Abidjan which was caused by escalating post-election tensions prompted fears the game will be shifted to a neutral venue.

But the continent's football governing body insists there is no cause for alarm.

"We wrote to Caf through the FA about the situation in Cote D' Ivoire but they have responded to us saying the there is no security threat in that part of the country where the game will take place and so we'll go to Ivory Coast," AshantiGold Management member Kofi Nimo said.

"We are very prepared and determined for the game and we believe many people will be surprised at the outcome of the game’.

AshGold will tackle the San Pedro-based side 30 January in the first leg tie.
