Italian-born Ghanaian forward Caleb Ekuban powered home his first goal for Leeds United in their 4-1 thumping of Port Vale in the Caraboa Cup round of 64 on Wednesday night.

It was a night for two new signings as Spanish midfielder Samuel Sáiz, who expressed his determination to replicate the exploits of former cult hero Anthony Yeboah after  being presented with the Ghanaian jersey number 21 shirt on his unveiling, opened his account with a hat-trick against the League Two side in front of their fans at Elland Road.

Ekuban added the side's last goal of the night with powerful finish in the 83rd minute.

Port Vale got their consolation goal in the 36th minute courtesy English midfielder Michael Tonge.

Thomas Christensen's side march on to the next stage of the competition.
