Dutch-born Ghanaian hit-man Elvis Manu says he had to keep his calm and composure to score a penalty against a disruptive FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday.

The 20-year-old created a penalty in the 77th minute and stepped up to artfully volley home to snatch a point at the Euroborg Stadium from under the paws of Groningen.

"I was very sure or myself and I knew I would score so I demanded the ball immediately," he said after the game.

"Groningen fans tried to catch up by throwing flags onto the field to disrupt my concentration. However, that was not a bother, I just scored nicely."

Manu, who is on loan from giants Feyenoord Rotterdam has been the main force behind Cambuur's season as he has led them from a relegation threatening position to contenders for a Europa League place.

Since arriving in January after failing to command a first team place at Feyenoord, Manu has notched four league goals for Cambuur and has spoken about his readiness to remain at Cambuur.
