Cape Verde have fresh injury concerns ahead of their historic quarter final match against Ghana on Saturday.

The Blue Sharks etched their names in the history books with their maiden qualification to the knockout stage of the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Cape Verde however face the unlikely prospect of making it into the last four with a tough match against a Black Stars team that is amongst the favourites to win the competition.

Their task is being made even more difficult with injuries to star player Heldon Augusto and right-back Carlitos.

Both players needed heavy strappings before taking part in Thursday’s training session in some discomfort.

Officials were however quick to downplay the injury concerns – insisting the players received quick medical care as a precautionary measure.

Cape Verde have been the tournament’s biggest revelation and are hoping to extend their fairy tale story by beating the Black Stars at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.
