James Milner will captain England for the first time in Tuesday's friendly with Holland at Wembley.
The Liverpool midfielder will take the armband in his 58th appearance for the Three Lions with regular skipper Wayne Rooney out injured and vice-captain Gary Cahill set to start on the bench after playing against Germany on Saturday night.
Milner, 30, made his international debut in 2009 and will now get the chance to lead his country on home soil which he admits is an enormous thrill.
When asked what it meant to him, Milner said: "Everything.
"Obviously growing up you are desperate to pull on that England shirt and you are scoring goals for England at Wembley in your back garden and the chance to lead out your country is a massive honour and something you never forget."
