Carpi boss reveals side’s shock following defeat to Roma

Published on: 12 February 2016

Carpi coach Fabrizio Castori had admitted his side’s shock after conceding three in a 1-3 defeat to Roma.

Lucas Digne, Edin Dzeko and Mohamed Salah netted despite Kevin Lasagna briefly leveling the score in Modena.

“Our biggest regret was conceding when we did, we deserved a draw in my view,” Castori told Premium Sport.

“Roma are a very strong team and have found a winning formula, we were still in shock after the third goal.

“We showed great enthusiasm, desire and hard work as we kept pace with Roma over the ninety minutes.

“We didn’t exploit weaknesses to our own advantage and we failed acknowledge particular strengths.”

The result moves Roma up to third temporarily while Carpi continue their battle against relegation.

“Roma left a good impression on me, they surprised me, they can finish third,” Castori concluded.

Carpi haven’t won a league game since late January and have now lost their last three matches.
