Carter-Vickers delighted with praise from Tottenham boss Pochettino

Cameron Carter-Vickers says he is determined to prove Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino right by developing into one of the Premier League's best centre backs.

The 19-year-old has operated on the fringes of Tottenham's first-team squad this season and made his senior debut in September's EFL Cup victory over Gillingham.

"It's more immense pride," Carter Vickers told NBC's 'Tottenham Hotspur: To Dare Is To Do' film when asked whether Pochettino's comments suggesting he could become one of the best defenders in England's top tier led to pride or pressure.

"It's inspiring - you want to go and prove him right. You see from players older than you that there's definitely a pathway.

"So if you keep working hard then hopefully you'll be the next one.

"Harry Kane - he's a great example. He's very professional on and off the pitch. Players that come from the Academy take you under their wing and show you the ropes."
