Ricardo Carvalho is happy for Michael Essien as he leaves Real Madrid to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.

The Portuguese defender who himself will be joining AS Monaco next season had a rare 90 minutes run out alongside the Ghana international in the final La Liga match against Osasuna on Saturday.

Essien scored the second of a 4-2 Madrid win at the Santiago Bernabeu to leave his mark haven excelled on a season’s long loan deal.

The Ghanaian is now set to return to Chelsea where he will be linking up with Mourinho as both make an emotional return to Stamford Bridge.

And Carvalho who also played under Mourinho at Chelsea and witnessed Essien’s goal celebration with the iconic Portuguese manager on Saturday couldn’t be happier the two will be joining forces once more again next season.

"Jose is a very special coach for Michael and he will be training with him again in July," he said.

Essien has enhanced his reputation as still one of the most reliable players in the game since moving to Madrid.

His return to form is expected to continue at Chelsea where he will once more again be under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho.
