Kwesi Nyantakyi
Alhaji MND Jawula has hailed the meteoric rise of Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi at CAF, his lobbying skills by getting more Ghanaians to work with the continent’s football governing body.
Ex-Ghana FA chief Jawula says Ghanaians must continue to support Nyantakyi claiming he is capable of landing one of the top posts in African football
This comes afs for the first time in the history of Ghana football nine Ghanaians will be working with various standing committees of CAF.
Their appointment is thanks to Nyantakyi’s hard work since he started serving on the body’s Executive Committee two years ago which has endeared him to the CAF aficionados.
His work ethic has raised CAF leaders’ attention to the quality within Ghana football administration leading to the naming of nine Ghanaians on various committees.
GFA leaders Fred Crentsil, Emmanuel Kyeremeh, Felix Ansong, George Afriyie as well as Lepowura Jawula and Worlanyo Agra were all named for posts within CAF.
Referee L O Laryea, Oti Akenteng and Justice Annin will all work on CAF committees.
Nyantakyi was confirmed as the head of CAF’s Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee and will serve on four other standing committees.
Jawula, who is also a member of the CAF interclub committee, Nyantakyi’s appointment epitomizes his good work but he has advised him to be tactful in his dealings.
“He should do it with a lot of caution, diplomacy and understanding with all those on the committee,” Jawula told Joy FM.
“It is good for Ghana football to have somebody at that level, so what this means is that our own football must be well organized now.
“We have to take advantage of the fact that we have somebody who is very close at the top level in CAF.
“Fair play in our country must be up to scratch, so that people do not say in his own country things don’t get on well.
“It is a challenge for all to support him and to ensure he does the things that are right so one day when a much bigger opportunity there comes they will look at him.”
Nyantakyi is regarded by many as the most successful Ghana FA leader having led the country to make their first two appearances at the World Cup
He was also in charge when Ghana became the first African country to win the U20 World Cup – feat yet to be matched by any country on the continent.
His leadership style has also been praised in many quarters.

Berekum Chelsea players will return to training on Friday.
Berekum Chelsea have recalled their players from the one-week break following a change in the Premier League resumption date.
The club had given their players a one-week rest in order to keep them fresh head of their title run in.
But they are forced to recall their players early as the league will now resume on May 29 rather than the original resumption date of June 9.
Berekum Chelsea have thus ordered their players to report back to base on Thursday to start training on Friday.
They will play rivals Berekum Arsenal, who are banned from using the Golden City Park, at a different venue.
The Berekum-based side currently lead the Ghanaian top flight by just two points with three games left to go.

Ghana Black Stars
Ghana’s national team will pitch camp in Ethiopia and South Africa to prepare for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Sudan and Lesotho.
The Black Stars had originally planned to camp in Kenya and play a friendly against the Harambee Stars on 1 June.
But they opted out of the friendly citing the unavailability of some players.
Coach Kwesi Appiah has now announced on the Ghana FA’s website that his team will camp in Addis Ababa and Johannesburg ahead of the matches against Sudan and Lesotho respectively.
High altitude training in Addis Ababa will put the Black Stars in shape for the game against Sudan and Lesotho where the altitude is also high.
Camping in Johannesburg will also keep the Black Stars in shape for the high altitude in Maseru ahead of the match against Lesotho.
The Black Stars will train in Ghana from their various homes for three days before departing to Ethiopia where they will be camped before the match against Sudan on 7 June.
The Black Stars must win their matches against Sudan and Lesotho to have a strong chance of topping the group to reach the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana are currently second in Group B with six points – one point adrift of Zambia who top the table thanks to a protest they won over Sudan.
