Playmaker Augustine Okrah scored the winner in a crucial 0-1 win at Merreikh Nyala to keep Al Mereikh within touching distance of leaders Al Hilal in the race for the Sudanese Premier League trophy.

Okrah, statistically the most in-form of Ghanaian players abroad in 2016, has now scored 15 goals and provided 9 assists in his 25 games of 2016.

Merreikh are six points behind Hilal with three games left, having played a match more than the rival team.

Okrah's scoring form from midfield is receiving huge plaudits from the Sudanese media.

The goals adds to his highly praised skilful and aesthetic model of play exhibited to the highest level in most of his games for Merreikh this season.

Okrah, 23, is understood to be pushing for a place in the Black Stars.

He said earlier this year that he will put in the extra shift to convince Ghana Coach Avram Grant that he is ready for the Black Stars.
