Barcelona are pushing to bring forward plans to sign Santos star Neymar this summer.
Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu hinted at the prospect last week after admitting they would like to buy Neymar after the Olympics.
With Barca having surrendered the title to Real Madrid last season, they so far have only added fullback Jordi Alba from Valencia.
The absence of more signings, says Sport, suggests Barca are planning one big name capture – with Neymar the man high on their agenda.
Liverpool have rejected a bid from Manchester City for Dan Agger.
The Daily Star says City have reportedly had their shock £13million bid for defender Agger rejected by Liverpool.
Agger reportedly informed Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers that he does not want to stick around at the under-achieving Merseyside club, but is still undecided on whether to extend his stay in the Premier League or move to Spain.
However, the Liverpool manager has insisted that the player is going nowhere and despite both Real Madrid and Barcelona pursuing the star, neither have had their interests materialise into a formal bid.
Tottenham have rejected a shock approach from Manchester City for Luka Modric.
The Daily Star Sunday says Spurs have dismissed the idea of Modric going to Manchester City in a deal that would finally take Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane.
City manager Roberto Mancini is understood to be keen to have Modric at the Etihad Stadium – even though signing a midfielder is not a priority for the Premier League champions.
But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is continuing to play hardball over Modric, 26, and wants only a straight cash transfer of £30million-plus.
Any City deal would have been Adebayor plus cash.
There is a stand-off over Modric with Real Madrid, who have offered £27m – but Jose Mourinho’s club were considering increasing their offer last weekend.
