Century man: Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan exceeds 100 goals at Al Ain

Published on: 02 May 2014
Asamoah Gyan has scored 101 goals at Al Ain in three seasons

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan broke the 100-goal mark for Al Ain after scoring a double in the dethroned champions 2-2 draw with Al Jazira on Thursday night in the Arabian Gulf League.

Gyan's two goals took him to 101 in an Al Ain shirt in all competitions including the Asian Champions League.

His first-which was the 100th- was a sublime finish after Gyan picked up a long ball from Yassine El Ghanassy, worked his way inside the box and scored off a deft shot for a 21st-minute lead.

Gyan again neatly putt away a lobbed pass from El Ghanassy for the home side to go into the break with a 2-0 lead.

Her publicist tweeted: “@ASAMOAH_GYAN3 has scored his 101th goal with alain FC ,today with his second goal vs al jazira. #Monko @SpeaktoDentaa.”

The 28-year-old has now scored a total of 81 league goals in 65 appearances.

@stonka, I think you meant to refer to Godfrey. Nana-Ka na wu, on the other side, was rather criticizing him for playing for Al Ain.

@ Nana-Ka na wu Where do you prefer to work? A highly respected company that pays you peanuts but brings fame or an unknown company that pays you about 5 times what others are prepared to pay you. I'm not sure you will keep working at your company if you get an offer which is 5 times better from a different company. Secondly, you talked abt competing with others. As a civil engineer, I have never felt the need to compete with all the other civil engineers in the world and I don't understand why you expect this to be different for footballers. There are grammy awards, Nobel prizes, UEFA, CAF etc awards to reward excellence in every field. I don't understand why u are trying to hold him to a standard which you obviously don't meet yourself. Feel free to enlighten me if you have won any continental award for excellence in your field. We sometimes forget that this is his job and his first goal is to profit from it. And unlike other jobs, you don't get paid higher for 15 yrs of experience. In football, your career ends when you gain 15 to 20 yrs of experience. And at 28, Gyan is not too far from that fate. Obviously, your stand will be different if you were his relative. You are thinking about what is best for your happiness and he is also doing same. Your interest is the Black Stars and his interest is his family and his future. It is great if he gets to do both but I will never begrudge anyone for considering his best interest.

With all these LAURELS, why dont U (GYAN) comes to EUROPE to compete with the HYPES of Yaya Toures and the Obi MIKELS or the African good players in EUROPE to Upgrades yur IDENTITY as one of th BEST football Goal scorers,,than to stay in the EMIRATES?--U are already a 2x Goal scorer of the YEAR, But CAF and FIFA dont recomends those ARABIAN countries as Good footbalers..Please,make GHANA, AFRICA and yourself PROUD by getting a third GOAL scorer at the end of this season with AL-AIN and come to EUROPE to get a PRIDE..MONEY is not all the time HAPPINESS..May GOD bless you..
