Champions Thailand to face Vietnam, Indonesia in KL 2017 SEA Games men's football

Kuala Lumpur: 2015 SEA Games men's football gold medallists Thailand will be confident of progressing to the semi-finals of the 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games semi-finals being drawn in Group B at the official draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Saturday.

Thailand, who have won the SEA Games men's football gold medal 15 times, were drawn alongside Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Timor-Leste and the Philippines in Group B.

Host Malaysia, hoping to win the gold on home soil after last clinching the title in the 2011 SEA Games, will also be confident of advancing to semi-finals after being drawn with 2015 SEA Games silver medallists Myanmar, Singapore, Laos and Brunei.

The SEA Games women's football competition will be contested on a round-robin format with Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, the Philippines and Malaysia in the fray.

The men's and women's futsal competitions will be contested by Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar and Malaysia. Both events will also be on a round-robin format. 

The 2017 Kuala Lumpur Sea Games is on August 14 to 29.
