Ghana winger Christian Atsu would have to remain with Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem for a longer period if Chelsea acquire Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah from FC Basel.

The Blues have already entered into contest with Liverpool and Tottenham to sign Salah, 21, who is nicknamed the 'Egyptian Messi' and they appear in pole position to him.

Chelsea signed Atsu from FC Porto in August and immediately farmed him out to their Dutch feeder club Vitesse Arnhem where he has been in fantastic shape.

But while Chelsea have been keenly following the progress of the Ghanaian, they would ask him to extend his loan period with Vitesse if they sign Salah who play in the same position with Atsu.

Salah possesses almost the same playing style as Atsu and is viewed to be more artful and articular on the ball than the Black Stars winger.
