Baba Rahman has been impressive for Augsburg

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed the club is close to sealing a move for a ‘left-back’ amidst heightened reports of Baba Rahman’s imminent arrival.

The Ghana defender is expected to join the Blues before the close of the summer transfer window from German club Augsburg.

Reports emerged that Augsburg had accepted a €21m offer from Chelsea but the deal is yet to be made.

The German club have even gone ahead to sign Philipp Max who is thought as the direct replacement for the departing Ghana international.

Jose Mourinho’s revelation of the club being close to sealing a move for a left-back will further heighten reports of Baba Rahman’s imminent arrival to Stamford Bridge.

"We need a left-back, the board know that and my feeling is that we are going to have one," he said.

Chelsea are looking to enforce their left-back position which is currently solely manned by Cesar Azpilicueta.
